What is a vignette in decorating? How do I create a vignette? Where are ideal places to create a vignette? Those are the questions I'm going to answer today.

A vignette is simply a display or grouping of carefully chosen pieces that work together in harmony.

Free Love Printables

A few days ago, I created two Valentine's themed prints for the master bedroom in an effort to add a few decorations to the space for cupid's holiday.

 

The prints, which I created in Adobe Illustrator, are simple with the messages "XOXO" and "LOVE".  I printed them onto white cardstock, then inserted them into these really small frames that I already had.  Then, I hung them next to our wedding photographs behind my jewellery vignette:

Creative & Pretty Storage Solutions

January is organizing month, so let us continue with that theme on the blog here.

 

As I mentioned in my previous post, organizing begins with smart storage.  It also begins with creative storage, which is what this post is all about.  All of the ideas I'm about to show you, I simply love.  Unconventional things were used to produce an organizing system and pretty display in the office and bath.  Very pretty, I might add.  For instance, vintage milk glass, one of my favourite things to collect, keep office supplies at bay on this blue tray:

January is a great time to get organized.  The holiday decorations are put away and there's a bit of freedom and relief from that.  A fresh start begins.

 

Organizing begins with smart storage.  This post focuses on smart storage solutions in the bedroom.  These tips are especially helpful if you're living in a smaller space, but, anyone can benefit from them.

 

1.  Buy the right furniture: bedside tables are important to have, as everyone knows, but a bedside table that's wide and with drawers offers more storage space and will hide items neatly too.
